Jane and Phil Bentley came to Premier Living through Access Loft Conversions. They were about to embark on a massive loft conversion project which involved the building of two new bedrooms and a second bathroom.

As they only had architects plans created by Access they were unable to envisage their new bathroom room space and were unsure how to make best use of it.

Premier Living worked closely with Access Lofts to obtain full plans and sectional drawings. The sectional drawings allowed us to ensure exactly how much head space would be available in the bathroom space without a dormer extension.

Jane and Phil were concerned that their bathroom space may be too small to do anything other than fit a standard toilet, standard sink and a standard bath. They were concerned that the room just wouldn't be practical and space would be a real issue. The new bathroom would measure 1700x2400mm but only have a head height of 2200mm in one part of the room due to a sloping, pitched roof.

In their consultation session with Premier Living all kinds of ideas were discussed but many weren't possible due height restrictions. A lot of the discussion was based around what they would like ideally and colour schemes to finish the room; it was hard to determine a definite brief.

Ideas discussed included:

• Shower over the bath
• Possible corner WC
• Possible drencher head in separate shower area
• Possible wetroom area
• Storage built into lower area of the room beneath the pitched roof

Their final bathroom design and quote created by Premier Living included;

• A fixed Vitra Optima double ended acrylic bath
• Vitra Carlton close coupled WC
• Vitra Arkitekt wall hung cloakroom basin with chrome bottle trap waste
• Hudson Reed Vienna monobloc basin mixer with pop up waste and a matching Hudson Reed Vienna 4 hole bath/shower mixer fitted onto the side of the bath
• Acova Palma chrome heated towel rail
• Humidity controlled extractor fan to meet building regulations
• Azuvi Estum Gris tiles with an Azuvi Estum Marron border and Azuvi Estum Marron floor tiles.
This colour scheme created a warm, spacious atmosphere without closing the room space to feel claustrophobic.
• 2 solid beech hand made shelves located underneath the pitched roof for storage and to prevent any wasted space.

By having a look at the photo's you'll see we really did maximise the space in their new bathroom.

The colour schemes used created the effect we were aiming for and made the room warm, spacious and not too claustrophobic.

The solid beech hand made shelves really complemented the Azuvi Estum Marron border and a beech Niagara wooden bath panel finished off the effect.

The original shelves were made before the room was finished; as always there were irregularities in the room dimensions from those on the plan so 2 new shelves had to be ordered at the cost of Premier Living.

The room was also 20mm lower than originally expected meaning the wooden bath panel had to be planed down to size.

The new shelves fitted perfectly beneath the sloping roof and allowed massive storage potential without closing in the room.

Overall the room was contemporary yet traditional; Jane and Phil were absolutely delighted with the end result even though there were a few hick ups along the way.
